Plans Change

Unlike most people who are looking forward to a summer of relaxation and kicking back Angela Raine and Kristina Leidums plan to paddle across Canada this summer. Unfortunately things don't always go quite as planned.

The purpose of their expedition is to spend 60 days following the historic Voyageur canoe route from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, to Lake Superior, Minnesota.

The 3000 km route will take them along the North Saskatchewan River to the Pas, Manitoba and through Cedar Lake.
They will paddle down Lake Winnipeg and from there venture up the Winnipeg River and through the chain of lakes and rivers along the Canada-US border.
The final stretch will be out to Lake Superior via the Pigeon River.
After 10 days into their trip Angela has found that a back injury from the previous winter is preventing her from continuing on with the journey.
In a bit of a panic Kristina has put a call out asking for someone to hop into Angela's seat and join the expedition from it's current position.
If Kristina cannot find a travel mate then she will continue the journey solo for as long as she can.

For more information on the expedition check out their website and blog and keep checking back with Canoerootsmag.com for updates on Kristina's progress.
