Help Rebuild Chilean Canoe & Kayak Club

chiliclub

A month after the devastating earthquake that hit Santiago, Chile, canoe and kayak club members are looking to rebuild their club. Members are seeking kayak, canoe and paddle donations to replace the 150 canoes and kayaks that were lost.

Fortunately, the earthquake and tsunami hit during the night when no members were on the water. But it was almost too close for some, as the earthquake hit only one week after their annual regatta.

Right now, the devastation is too much and events and practices are on hold for the Constitución Kayak Club, which “is one of the most important organizations in Chile where canoeing is practiced,” states the International Canoe Federation (ICF).

Club officials are now aiming to re-build the club and seek donations.

If you would like to help by donating kayaks, canoes or paddles (no matter if they are old, any help in this line is grateful) please contact Christian Moya, the president of Chilean Canoe Federation, by email:  fedcanotaje@canotajechile.cl.
