TORONTO, Ontario - November 1, 2010 - After finding himself misdirected on an Algonquin Park canoe trip in 2006 while using an existing canoe routes map, Jeffrey McMurtrie was driven to create his own map of Algonquin Park's canoe routes.

In 2008 the first version of Jeffrey's map was made available to the public at no charge. Since then, over 150,000 individuals have downloaded or purchased his map; a rate more than eight times higher than any competing map.

"More than anything, this is a testament to my relentless pursuit for quality," said Jeffrey McMurtrie. "That's why I decided to re-create the new third version map from scratch.  I knew that I'd have years of work ahead of me but when I learned of better techniques and technologies that would help make the map even more accurate, I knew I had to make the effort.  I want to be able to put my name on my map with pride, and that requires that my map be as accurate as I can make it."

Aside from being re-created from scratch, the third version of Mr. McMurtrie's map features over 60 major new features, including pre-calcaulated canoe route distances, portages and campsites perfectly located by Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and a brand new set of fishing data compiled from conservations with local fishing experts.

"Being the only author of an Algonquin Park map that is also a canoe tripper in the park, my passion stems from my own interests.  The map reflects my enthusiasm for canoeing Algonquin Park and other canoeists use it for that reason.  It's a labour of love."

Jeffrey McMurtrie is a longtime canoeist of Algonquin Park. Having paddled in Algonquin Park for over 350 days during the last thirteen years, his knowledge of the campsites, trails and waterways of Algonquin Park is comprehensive.

You can view Jeffrey's map at www.algonquinmap.com and pick up print and book versions of it at Algonquin Outfitters. More info about the map is available at www.ao-sales.blogspot.com.
