The Aries Group Company in India, constructed the longest snake boat measuring 144 ft. They manufactured it out of steel and it weighs a total of 8 tones. And you thought your Prospector was heavy!

In 2008, this steel snake boat called the Aries Chundan beat the previous record of the largest canoe crew in history, which carried 118 people. The Aries Chundan held a crew of 141 people—136 paddlers and 5 helmsmen.

Snake canoes are a traditional boat of India and are used particularily in southwestern state of Kerala. Mr. Sohan Roy, the CEO of Aries Marine, the largest ship design and consultancy firm in India, was the mind behind the creation of this snake boat and it was designed by Mr. Surendra Babu.
