Get Ready, Get Set, GO!

Want to race? This year, Brockville, Ontario and the 1000 Islands are hosting the 2010 Canada 55+ Games from August 23-28, 2010.The Games sponsor and promote active living and wellness among people 55+ and host the flatwater canoe and kayak championship races.
An estimated 2,000 participants are expected to be at the games this year for the weeklong event that promotes active living. All types of competitions will be held for those people 55+ from archery to hockey.
And for the first time since the Canada-wide games began in 1996, the games will include “open” Canadian medal Championships for anyone 55+ in 4 events on August 26: 200 meter sprint flatwater canoe (C1, C2) and kayak (K1,K2) races in Gananoque, Ontario.
Cost of registration is $35 per event.
Also, if you are a little less competitive, non-race oriented activities such as yoga, sea kayaking, geocaching, dancing, open water swimming, beach volleyball, interpretive nature walks, a fishing derby and photo contest will be made available on August 26th. Food, live music and fun will highlight the day as well.
