Rare Bill Mason Original
Written by Stephanie Park Friday, 16 April 2010 00:00
Most canoeists know Bill Mason as a famous paddler from the iconic National Film Board documentaries such as Waterwalker and The Rise and Fall of the Great Lakes, but he was also well-known artist.
Mason earned his living in the off-season doing just that and spent the paddling season painting his favourite waterfalls, lakes, campsites and cliffs along the shore of Lake Superior and throughout Ontario.
This year, after numerous inquiries from people wanting to purchase an original Bill Mason painting, the Mason family decided to offer one of Mason’s originals for sale. His last original painting was sold back in 2000 in Almonte, Ontario, where his painting sold out in 40 minutes.
The untitled waterfall painting put up for sale has just been sold but the family assures that their will be more Bill Mason originals offered for sale at a later date.
