I have a metal two car shed.
I bolted a cable to the lower outside rafter, ran a 3/4 inch EMT pipe around the cable about 4 foot long, then bolted the other end up to the middle. You can get some pipe insulation wrap that is split down the center, place that around the pipe and duct tape if you feel you need to. works good. That holds the canoe higher than I am for walking under with mowers and lawn tractors. it's a bit tough to get it in.. but once in.. it's definitely home till our next outing.
