Trips
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) is a lengthy waterway trail that “links the waterways of New York, Vermont, Québec, New Hampshire and Maine” and provides canoeists with over 1190-kilometres (740-miles) of scenic rivers and lakes to travel.

According to the NFCT, “The route's variety of flat water, swift water, and whitewater, on a range of rivers, streams, lakes and ponds provide extensive opportunities for canoe and kayak recreation” with over 22 rivers and stream, 56 lakes and ponds and over 62 portages. The water trail also flows through three National wildlife refuges.
Although few canoeists paddle the entire trail in one go, many canoeists work on sections of it over a number of years and eventually link the entire route. Along the way, the route travels through 45 communities, which offer bed & breakfasts, restaurants and camping facilities.
“Come paddle with us...for an afternoon, a vacation, or a lifetime!” entices the NFCT, which was first established in the 90s by a group that was researching canoe routes used by First Nations and early settlers to the region.
