Here is a look at a tandem canoe rescue that you really should practice.  

This article breaks down a tandem, deep water rescue called the Capistrano Flip.  We never plan to be upside down (okay well some of us do...) but you need to be prepared to self rescue from any situation.  With winter upon us this might be a great way to practice some techniques at your local pool.
