Do you know your knots?  If you do we need your help in determining if our Taut Line Hitch is indeed correct!  One of our readers, Don, has informed us that any Boy Scout would tell us that what we have shown isn't a Taunt Line Hitch at all.  He also informed us that he searched the internet and couldn't find an example of what we have shown.  Did we invent a new knot or is this indeed a Taunt Line Hitch after all?

A Taut Line Hitch lets you adjust the tension on a rope, making it great for setting up tarps and tightening tent fly lines.  We thought/think that we've got it right but maybe not?  Leave a comment to let us know if we've got it or if we should give back our knot tying badge.

Read Wilker's Why Knot! article in the Early Summer 2011 issue of Canoeroots magazine.
