How to Survive Anything

In the Summer/Fall 2010 issue of Canoeroots, Canoeroots' staff share personal experience mixed with a little know-how when it comes to surviving adverse situations on a canoe trip.

On a canoe trip this past weekend, we were sitting down, just about to eat dinner after a long day flat water paddling and running a few rapids. Rifling through our barrel “ honey… did you grab the utensils” I uttered in panic. “How are we going to eat”?

I know, I know. No big deal. We grabbed a couple pieces of wood and our knife, fashioned a couple of pairs of chop-sticks and consumed our dinner. This made me think back to the last issue of Canoeroots and the feature article “Survive”
