VIDEO: Safely Tie Down Your Canoe

I cringe when I see wavering canoes a-top roofs of vehicles tied on improperly with bungee cords, or vehicles piled with canoes towering mountain high ready to come crashing down on the highway, prevented only by a thin piece of slippery bright yellow nylon rope, the kind you pick up for a buck at a local hardware store — really, its does happen!

Recently, an instructional video just crossed my desk that I thought everyone should see. The video was produced by the Recreation Sports Outdoor Program at the University of Minnesota. It provides some good tips and ideas for tying down a canoe on your vehicle for both novices and experts alike. Check it out!
