Master Boat Builder: Skip Izon

I don’t know if it’s his soft-spoken voice and down to earth demeanor or the exceptional craftsmanship and quality of his boats but it’s hard not to fall in love with master canoe builder, Skip Izon.

 

You may have never heard of Skip Izon because this guy spends most of his waking hours designing, building and constructing boats at his workshop in Grand Bend, Ontario, but this man has talent.

 

I was fortunate enough to meet Skip many years ago when he was building the Great Lakes Heritage Coast Canoe with Gary and Joanie McGuffin—a big lake tripping model that would rival any other canoe in it’s class.

In Hawaii, Santa Arrives by Outrigger

No sleigh with nine tiny little reindeer — Santa arrives in Hawaii by outrigger canoe.

This past weekend, Santa visited the much warmer climate of Hawaii arriving on Waikiki Beach in a traditional outrigger canoe.
