Favourite Tripping Dessert: Editor's Pick

For me, canoe tripping conjures up images of glassy lakes, roaring waterfalls, and delicious food. After a long day of paddling and portaging, nothing is better than sitting down to a nice meal paired with a tasty dessert.

My favorite dessert is, by far, a chocolate fondue. It's easy to make and depending on the ingredients it could be dessert for day 1 or day 14 of a canoe trip.

Chocolate Fondue for 4 Recipe

Ingredients:

1) Fruit (strawberries, bananas, peaches, apples, oranges, and/or dried fruit.)
2) Pretzels, Marshmallows, Cookies (optional)
3) Milk or Dark Chocolate Chips (at least 1 cup for a group of 4 chocoholics)
4) butter, margarine or oil (1-2 tbsp)

Directions:

1) Cut all fruit and arrange on tray
2) boil water in large pot
3) place chocolate chips in a smaller pot and double boil the chocolate chips.
4) add butter or margarine when the chocolate chips start to melt
5) keep stirring the chocolate to make sure it doesn't burn
6) You know the chocolate is ready when it comes to a silky smooth consistency
7) dip, eat and enjoy
8) washing up is simple: just lick the pot!
