06.01.2011– EASLEY, S.C. – You only turn 40 once and Mad River Canoe is celebrating the milestone by offering a special edition Explorer Kevlar. Available for a limited time, the 40th anniversary Explorer has a classic aesthetic reminiscent of 1971 style, with the performance expected from a 2011 Kevlar hybrid hull.

mad-river-2For the 40th anniversary of the brand, the special edition Explorer is a nostalgic reminder of the legacy that began so humbly in Vermont four decades ago. The vintage aesthetic is two-toned red and white with elegantly stained, slotted gunwales, contoured cane seats and contoured yoke.

The beloved hull design of the Explorer remains unchanged in the special edition boat. A shallow vee hull and moderate rocker provide just the right blend of agility, speed and stability to please experienced canoeists and developing canoeists, alike. The limited edition canoe is available in a light and efficient Kevlar hybrid.

To finish the boat in true Mad River Canoe fashion, this celebratory canoe wouldn’t be complete without the original “rabbit with a habit” icon. He proudly and mischievously adorns the bow, ready to usher in another 40 years of canoeing adventures.

The special edition Explorer Kevlar is made to order. MSRP: $2,999.00.
