Hudson’s Bay Company (Hbc) designers and artists have rummaged through the archives for inspiration and created a 120-piece signature collection.
Everything old is new again and fur trade history now looks chic as designer coats, comfortable ottomans, mohair throws are all designed using the traditional Hbc red, green and yellow stripes.

Included in their collection is an Hbc canoe, crafted by Langford.
According to Arren Williams of the National Post, the canoe “would add a dashing touch hung from the ceiling of the most modern space.”
However, I’m hoping that these canoes are destined for something greater than just poser ceiling-hung décor. Possibly, a Christmas gift for very special canoeist who will enjoy the handcrafted elegance and functional beauty of a canoe that looks far more dashing on the water.
